A Tank of Gas or Less - Dallas, TX to Houston, TX

Our first recommendation is a road trip from Dallas, TX to Houston, TX or vice versa.  Even in the summer heat, while running the air conditioning, this drive can be made on a full tank of gas in most automobiles.

While in Houston, here are a few recommendations:

Attractions - The Hobby Center, Wortham Center, The Downtown Aquarium, The Houston Museum District, The Kemah Boardwalk in nearby Kemah, TX

Hotels - The Hilton Americas in downtown Houston, Hotel Derek, Westin Oaks at The Galleria, Ritz Carlton, The Four Seasons, Hotel ZaZa

Shopping - Houston, TX is by far one of the greatest shopping cities in the United States.  Given the expansive size of the city, and depending on where you are staying, one can find incredible buys in virtually all parts of Houston.  Some of my favorite shopping spots are: Meyerland Plaza Shopping Center, Memorial City Mall, The Woodlands Town Center, Katy Mills Outlet Malls and the renowned Galleria Mall.

Restaurants - Pappa’s Seafood Restaurants, This Is It Soul Food, Just Oxtails Soul Food, Mama’s Oven, Sunfired Health Foods, Luby’s Cafeterias, Sullivan’s Steak House, Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille, Sudie’s Catfish & Seafood House

We encourage you to think of others and

When to Drive, When to Fly

For those of you interested in exploring Houston and/or Dallas, TX, if you are departing from a major U.S. city (let’s say Chicago, New York, Washington, DC) we suggest flying into Dallas, TX’s DFW Airport and/or Houston’s Intercontinental Airport then driving to and fro.  Houston has a very convenient car rental system and many times has the best rental rates among most cities.  Of course, we suggest that you prepare a budget in advance of your trip and always do the research.  Our recommendations and suggestions are based on personal experiences.  Hotel and rental rates, airfares and gas prices will vary from city to city.
